Jac McCarty successfully defended her interdisciplinary thesis, “Russian Language in Modern Natural Language Processing and Natural Language Inference: The Necessity of Performance Evaluation Datasets Focusing on Negation,” on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
Bringing together her studies in computer science and Russian, Jac’s thesis examines how negation is represented in natural language inference and argues for evaluation datasets that better capture the linguistic properties of Russian.
The thesis was co-advised by Adam Poliak and Irina Walsh.
